Lyudmila Zhebina

Lyudmila Nikitichna Zhebina — mountaineer, mountain tourist, and instructor. She took her first steps in alpinism under the tutelage of Vasilko Ozarovsky, and later completed military mountaineering training in Alma-Ata.

Over her career, she scaled numerous peaks of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, among them Korona, Box, Teke-Tor, Scriabin, Kosmonavtov, and many others. As a seasoned instructor, she led parties of climbers that included future "Snow Leopards" – V. Kochetov and V. Biryukov. Her enduring legacy in Kyrgyzstan's mountaineering is measured in the many athletes she trained, who carried on the traditions of high-altitude climbing.
