Nikolay Gutnik

Nikolay Nikolaevich Gutnik — Master of Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic in Mountaineering, instructor, national-category judge in rock climbing, IFMGA mountain guide, geologist. He began in the "Polytechnic" section, but due to the dissolution of the USSR, the section's activity ceased. He soloed his first peaks in Ala-Archa. He studied rock climbing under Marina Galtsova. In 2000 he became the head of the "Manas" Alpine Club (Kyrgyz-Turkish University). With Evgeny Novoseltsev, he ascended Svobodnaya Koreya Peak (4,777 m) in winter, route grade 6A. He soloed Khan Tengri.

He participated in the search for the team and the organisation of high-altitude work for the meeting of parachutists on Lenin Peak in 2003. Joining the "First Kyrgyz Himalayan Expedition" in 2008, he ascended Ama Dablam (6,814 m). In 2010 he ascended Denali (6,190 m, Alaska). Twice (in 2012 and 2015) he ascended Muztagh Ata (7,500 m, China). Participant in two expeditions to eight-thousanders (Lhotse, 8,516 m, and Nanga Parbat, 8,125 m) – both expeditions did not summit due to avalanche danger. Gutnik's climbing geography covers Ala-Archa, Inylchek, China, Nepal, Pakistan, USA, Georgia, and Russia.
