Oleg Turaev

Oleg Yuryevich Turaev ("Slon") — Master of Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic in Mountaineering, Candidate Master of Sports of the USSR in Rock Climbing, IFMGA mountain guide, Candidate Master of Sports of the USSR in canoeing. In mountaineering since 1979. A graduate of the "SKIF" section (head – F. Popov). In 1989 he graduated from the "Elbrus" School of Instructors. After the dissolution of the USSR, he was invited to the CSKA team (head – E. Ilyinsky), as part of which he made significant and technically difficult ascents, including Ak-Su Peak (5,355 m, grade 6A), Admiralteets (5,090 m, grade 6A).

In total he has more than 60 ascents of the 5th and 6th grades of difficulty to his credit. Among other peaks, he has visited Lenin Peak (7,134 m) 16 times, Khan Tengri (6,995 m) 3 times, Pobeda West (6,918 m), Muztagh Ata (7,546 m), Ama Dablam (6,814 m), Mont Blanc (4,810 m), Ararat (5,165 m), Copahue (5,897 m), Chimborazo (6,267 m), and others. Participant in the multisport race "Raid Gauloises" in 2003. Since 2011, a teacher of international-standard guides (IFMGA-UIAGM).
