Dmitry Grekov

Dmitry Mikhailovich Grekov — Master of Sports of the USSR in Mountaineering, Honoured Master of Sports in Mountaineering, 1st-category instructor, "Snow Leopard", Master of Sports of the USSR in canoeing. From a young age he was engaged in mountaineering independently. From 1984 in the "SKIF" section. From 1989 – senior instructor of the Ala-Archa Rescue and Control Post. He ascended many peaks of Ala-Archa of the 5th and 6th grades, including participation in the winter ascent of Svobodnaya Koreya Peak (4,777 m).

Dmitry has several first ascents to his credit, non-classical routes on Khan Tengri Peak, in total about 100 ascents of the highest difficulty grades (16 – 6A and 6B, 39 – 5B), he took part in 13 mountaineering championships, in 10 of which his team took 1st place. In 1997, Dmitry Grekov became the first Kyrgyzstani to summit Everest (8,848 m). For this he was awarded the title of Honoured Master of Sports. In 1999 he fulfilled the requirements for the title "Snow Leopard". He organised a Kyrgyz expedition to Nepal to Ama Dablam (6,812 m) and to Pakistan to Nanga Parbat (8,125 m).
