Kerim Aktaev

Kerim Serikovich Aktaev — "Snow Leopard", Secretary-General of the Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, 1st-class shooter. A graduate of the "Polytechnic" section. In 2011, he completed the "Snow Leopard" programme, including an ascent of Khan Tengri Peak via a non-classical route (Romanov's route "along the marble ridge", grade 5B). Since 2024 – instructor of mountain training for the "Edelweiss" unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Mountaineering in the 1990s–2000s

In the last years of the USSR, Ala-Archa held first place in the USSR in the number of ascents. The revival of Kyrgyz mountaineering after the dissolution of the USSR flared up in 1997.
